Plumbers of the World: Stories of Dignity, Ingenuity and Hope
Since 2017, Oxfam has been at the forefront of the Rohingya crisis response in Bangladesh, delivering impactful programs in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Protection, Emergency Food Security & Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSVL) and GBV Prevention. Its work has brought transformative changes to the lives of thousands in both Rohingya and host communities. From constructing solar-powered water networks and fecal sludge management to pioneering sustainable solid waste management models, Oxfam’s innovative solutions have not only addressed immediate needs but also laid the groundwork for long-term resilience. Through community-driven approaches, Oxfam has empowered individuals to reclaim their dignity and become agents of change within their communities.
Much like plumbers who resolve unseen crises to ensure smooth functioning, Oxfam has worked behind the scenes
to tackle the invisible yet life-threatening challenges of water, sanitation and hygiene, transforming them into solutions and opportunities.
This is a compelling collection of images and stories capturing the strength of Rohingya and host communities, highlighting Oxfam’s journey.
